Starting a new business is not easy, it takes dedication, focus and a lot of hard work. However, having your own business can be fun, rewarding and not to mention you have no boss! There is a lot of information out there for new business owners, some good some bad and some just confusing! Everyone has advice for you and it can be extremely overwhelming. My advice would be stay focused and keep it simple and you can’t go wrong. Here are my top tips to help a new business market their themselves.
Brand Your Business
Whatever type of business you have, whether you’re a car salesman or freelance hairdresser. It is very important to build your business into a recognisable brand. Think about all the big brands out there and the one thing they all have in common? You trust them and you are a loyal customer.
Am I right?
To be honest we all buy into (if only a little) all the commercial drizzle out there. When we are parting with our hard earned cash we want to feel like we are getting the best for our money and we are a respected and important customer. By making sure from day one of your business you are promoting it as an honest, loyal, customer focused brand you can’t go wrong.
I would argue that in today’s market building an online presence is one of the most important things to do when starting a new business. Some of the biggest brands around the world spend a lot of time and energy getting their online presence correct. This proves the point of how important it is for everyone. Depending on what your business is and the budget you have, building a website maybe too expensive or not vital to your business.
I would suggest using social media tools such as Facebook and Twitter to launch your business to a greater audience and best of all it’s free! You can target specific audiences and groups on these network sites, for example if are selling children’s clothing you can target parents. It is a perfect tool to launch or grow any new business and it is very simple to use.
Everyone loves a bargain! Remember this and work with it. When launching a business you need something to draw your customers in with. They may have been loyal customers somewhere else, so you need to impress them to draw them to you. Offering a bargain special offer is a great way to get people interested. Make sure you do your homework and your sums, so that whatever offer you advertise you can actually afford it, making you money not costing it!
One of my favourite offers is when a new business has a lunch party and everyone that attends receives a gift voucher or money off coupon. This works fantastically well, as you get people from the word go interested in your business and coming back.
