Be Bold – Try a Wackier Business Card Design
Business card design, so the common advice goes, is one of those areas of your business branding and marketing strategy where you just can’t afford to take big risks. Your company’s brand is too important to fritter away on a frivolous business card design that loses respect for your services. You need prospective clients to take you seriously – so stick to the basic elements of a rectangular card with your name, web address and contact details.
And yet… do you even remember most of the business cards that you’ve ever been handed?
You might not even recall one… except that weird one that were given at a trade show lately, or that other one that was an unconventional shape or was made to resemble an iPhone screen, web browser or something else with some relation to the products or services offered.
The truth is that wackiness does work when it comes to business card printing and design, but you do need to know how to use it. If the resultant design makes people remember you, you’ve normally won half the battle already!
From unusual shapes to fabrics and Braille
Maybe you’re at the helm of a fashion label – in which case, why not cut your business card to resemble an actual clothing label? Or maybe you do something in the property field, in which case, the card could be cut in the outline of a house? Maybe you’re a stationery supplier, and fancy printing your business card so that it appears to be a ruler or another item that you sell?
You might even want to incorporate unusual materials – like fabrics – into the business card design.
Far from just giving your business card rounded edges and cutting the perimeter of the card into a certain shape, perhaps you could cut the actual text of your contact details into the card?
Or could you be an artist, and perhaps differentiate your business card by splotching some actual paint onto it, helping to make every card that you offer unique?
Some business owners also incorporate Braille into their cards, making their design one to physically feel as much as to look at.
Other people might not only cut sections out of their business card, but also offer those sections as separate cards in their own right, perhaps offering extra details or just serving as something a bit different (and conveniently smaller!) for the prospective client to slot into their wallet.
All in all, whether you use some or all of these unorthodox business card design ideas, you are likely to be thankful for a business card that isn’t automatically destined for your prospective client’s bin!
